Have you heard of S4OM?

Massage therapists work independently, frequently in isolation and can feel alone in our experiences and decision making.  Yet, every client we see and treatment adaptation we make connects us to a community of therapists who share the same goal:  To bring safe, effective and compassionate touch to people affected by cancer.

A Professional Home

This is where the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM) comes in.

S4OM provides a professional home for massage therapists who are curious about or already deeply involved in oncology massage.  It brings together practitioners, educators, researchers and advocates who are committed to making massage an integral part of integrative cancer care.

Why Membership Matters

1. Standards and practices

S4OM establishes clear standards of practice: Clients and health professionals can trust that trained members are providing safe, evidence-informed care.

2.  Education

S4OM has developed standards for oncology massage education that ensure courses have met the approval criteria, creating high standards and confidence in therapists preparing to work in this area.

3. Visibility and Credibility

S4OM maintains a public directory of trained oncology massage practitioners making it easier for qualified therapists to be found by clients and healthcare providers.

4. Learning and Support

Cancer care evolves constantly, and so does the field of oncology massage. S4OM offers webinars, conferences, and resources that keep us up to date.

5. Advocacy and Growth

Individually, it is hard to raise awareness about the value of oncology massage. Collectively, we have a stronger voice. S4OM works to advance recognition of oncology massage in healthcare settings, helping to open doors for therapists everywhere.
