Prerequisite: Participants are expected to have a working knowledge of:
cancer treatments, their side effects and necessary massage adaptations
how to provide safe massage to someone with a lymphatic system compromised by cancer treatments
Designed for massage therapists who have a foundation of knowledge and experience working with people affected by cancer, and want to feel confident providing rehabilitative treatments to support their patients in regaining optimal function and comfort in their body.
Due to the sensitive nature of this work, the maximum number of participants will be 12 people.
The hands-on work will focus on areas of the body that are sensitive and vulnerable for many people: The abdomen, head and neck, breast/chest.
Participants are asked to consider whether or not they are comfortable having these parts of their body treated by the class participants.
